The following tutorial explains how we can use fractals in developing an interesting fashion oriented photo manipulation. The idea is to use simple Photoshop tools like Free Transform, Hue/Saturation and Color Balance to bring out the final product as shown below. For this project I choosed an image that is provided for free by Katanaz Stock on Deviant Art and some fractals that I generated using a proper software.

  • Old Photo Restoration

I did the original retouching in Photoshop CS2, but took the screen shots recently in Photoshop CS4. As far as I know, the Clone Stamp Tool is in Photoshop 7 onwards, I’m not sure about previous editions. All work carried out on one layer.

  • Restoring Memories

In this tutorial we will take a pretty heavily damaged photograph and restore the image while still maintaining an authentic look. After restoring the photo we will then examine one of the many ways you can color and touch the image up after the restoration process is complete. There are many ways to tackle this project. I will show you one way that I prefer to work on it and hopefully you can add your own twist to it!

  • Don’t Know Much about History (Brush, That Is!)

I was introduced to the History Brush by my wife, Victoria. There are countless uses for the brush but the basic workflow is similar each time you use the brush.

  • The restoration of old photographs section gave me a thought, have you considered an article on Operation Photo Rescue? It’s a charity organisation whose volunteers restore photographs damages in natural disasters, I think it’d make a great article.
